1. Terms of Use
WanaImba is an independent accommodation marketplace project. It is not an official service of any university or accommodation provider.
By creating an account or using WanaImba, you agree to provide accurate information, keep your sign-in details secure, and use the platform lawfully and respectfully.
2. Accommodation information and decisions
Landlords are responsible for the accuracy, legality, availability, images, prices, and terms of their accommodation listings. Students should inspect accommodation and agree written tenancy terms with the landlord before making a payment or moving in.
WanaImba helps users discover listings, send requests, communicate, and manage platform records. It does not process tenancy payments, guarantee a property, create a tenancy agreement, or act as a party to an agreement between a student and landlord.
3. Safe and acceptable use
You must not submit false information, impersonate another person, misuse another user's personal information, upload harmful content, bypass platform controls, or use WanaImba to harass, discriminate against, defraud, or threaten anyone.
WanaImba may review reported content, hide unsafe material, restrict an account, or refer serious safety concerns for controlled moderation in line with the platform's published workflows.
4. Privacy Notice
WanaImba collects the account, profile, verification, property, listing, application, communication, notification, and audit information needed to operate a safer accommodation marketplace. The exact fields collected depend on your account type and actions on the platform.
We use this information to create and secure accounts, display approved listings, match students and landlords, process requests, manage verification and moderation, respond to support needs, protect users, and maintain auditable system operations.
If you choose Google or Microsoft sign-in, that provider confirms your identity to WanaImba and may share a stable account identifier, email address, name, and basic profile information. WanaImba stores the provider link for sign-in and does not store the provider password or ongoing access tokens. A Google-confirmed email may be accepted as verified; other emails are verified by WanaImba. Provider sign-in does not replace student, landlord, or property checks.
5. Sharing, protection, and retention
Information is shared only as necessary for the feature you use. For example, landlords receive a student's request details, moderators receive evidence and reports assigned for review, and public users see only approved listing information. Sensitive evidence and private contact details are not public by default.
Landlords may type a private address manually without loading Google Maps. If a landlord chooses address search or a map pin, the address search, coordinates, and technical connection data needed to provide the map are processed by Google under Google's applicable terms and privacy policy. An authorised student or moderator sends the confirmed coordinates to Google only when they choose to load or open the private map.
Google and Microsoft process sign-in details under their own privacy notices when you choose those methods. You can connect or disconnect a provider in Profile settings, provided another usable sign-in method remains.
WanaImba applies role-based access controls, restricted media access, session protections, and append-only audit records. Records are retained according to the platform's retention rules and may be kept longer where a safety report, dispute, legal obligation, or retention hold applies.
6. Your choices and contact
You can review and update your profile, withdraw optional processing preferences, request an export of your account data, and use the account controls available to you. You may also report a concern through the platform.
We respect your privacy and process personal data in accordance with applicable requirements, including the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07]. For questions about this notice or your information, contact the WanaImba project administrator through the available support channel.
7. Changes to this notice
WanaImba may update these terms or the privacy notice when the service changes or legal, safety, or operational requirements require it. The version shown here is the current published version. A new acceptance may be requested when a material update is published.
